Make a difference

There are plenty of ways you can help and raise much needed money for the BFBS Big Salute. From sponsored running or walks, specially tailored events and so much more - over the years we have been blown away with the creative and wonderful ways you have shown your support!

Some of the charities who have benefited over the years include the Royal Air Forces Association, the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity, Bournemouth War Memorial Homes and Winchester Sea Cadets.

Every penny that you raise goes towards so many great causes and below are a few ways you can help!

BFBS Brunei Gurkha presenters, Soniya and Arati, completed their ‘8km Forced March’ with 10kg on their back raising £1377 for The Big Salute.

Best foot forward

BFBS Brunei Gurkha presenters, Soniya and Arati, completed their ‘8km Forced March’ with 10kg on their back in a time of 1 hour 28 minutes on 22nd August 2020 and managed to raise £1377 for The Big Salute.  A worthwhile effort indeed!

At BFBS Gibraltar the team were able to raise over £1700 for the BFBS Big Salute thanks to the annual Big Salute Golf event in Estepona.

Par excellence

Covid restrictions didn't dampened the determination of the team at BFBS Gibraltar to raise money. They were at the annual Big Salute Golf event in Estepona where players from the military and ex-pat communities raised £1700 for our charity!

Ice Hockey team

'Ice work all-round

The BFBS Canada Big Salute Hockey Tournament involved both British and (for the first time ever) Canadian military hockey players – it was won by the BATUS REME Workshops team, the Orange Oilers.

As well as the hockey matches there was a bake sale and 50/50 draw. All that fundraising tipped the total to over C$3,000 for the Big Salute!

The BFBS Big Brekkie

Hatch & Geere from the BFBS Breakfast Show along with personnel and BFBS staff, together raised money from the Falkland Islands to Cyprus, Gibraltar and Germany thanks to plenty of bacon butties and cooked breakfasts – tasty!

Team BFBS ran the Royal Parks Half Marathon to raise cash for Big Salute beneficiaries, find out how you can raise money for great causes.

Going the extra mile

Seven members of BFBS staff donned their trainers to run the Royal Parks Half Marathon to raise cash for Big Salute beneficiaries. It proved to be quite the challenge but the team persevered to raise much appreciated money - the team may have been sponsored by Deep Heat!
