Summer 2025 Work Experience Programme

We are now open for applications for our Summer 2025 Work Experience programme, for people aspiring to work in radio, who would like to spend a week at the HQ of BFBS The Forces Station in Buckinghamshire.

We would love to hear from you if you are an aspiring radio producer or presenter, or interested in a career in music programming or digital media production.

What you can expect:

  • One week’s work experience at BFBS HQ in Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire, with dates to be agreed in August or September
  • Attached to a member of the BFBS team, shadowing them, and learning about their job
  • Opportunities to create content for broadcast or publication, supported by our team
  • The work experience is unpaid, but reasonable travel expenses will be covered

What we are looking for:

  • Individuals who are enthusiastic about working in radio, and who are interested in BFBS
  • People who have at least some radio or podcast experience already, such as voluntary radio
  • Applicants must be over 18. Unfortunately we are unable to support under 18 placements.
  • We don’t require any University experience

  5. Which of the following areas would you like to focus on (you can pick up to two):
  • Programme production – making live radio shows with presenters
  • Speech content production – recording interviews, making radio packages
  • Music scheduling – learning how the playlist works and how to choose songs for our audience
  • Digital production – website, video, photography and social media

Applications for the programme close on 27 July 2025, and shortlisted applicants will be contacted before the end of July, to do a short video interview as part of the selection process.
