BFBS Trustee - Rich Fogden

Air Commodore Rich Fogden joined the RAF in the mid-80's as a ‘loggie’.  In his career he has served in Defence, Combined, Joint and single-Service staff and command appointments in the UK, Europe and Middle East, in MOD and NATO, PJHQ and Air.  He has seen operational service during the first Gulf War, in the Balkans, Afghanistan and elsewhere.  He is a graduate of the Advanced Staff Course, Cranfield and Kings College.

Fogden took up his current appointment as Director RAF Sport in December 2020, with a mandate to deliver the new RAF Sport Strategy, which seeks to provide opportunity for all, at each and every level.  He and his team are responsible for the oversight of RAF Sport’s 50+ associations, in concert with the RAF Central Fund and a range of other supporters (thank you).

Currently he is also Chair UK Armed Forces Sports Board, by rotation with his counterparts in the other Services, looking after over 30 UKAF associations, in concert with a different range of supporters.

He plays tennis, slalom water-skis and runs slowly but will have a go at most sports – obviously!  He is married to Sue, a chartered surveyor, and they have two grown-up children.
