BFBS has a fantastic opportunity for a Broadcast Technician, living and working in Gibraltar.


BFBS Technology are looking for a Broadcast Technician to work in Gibraltar on a fixed-term contract. We’re looking for someone with a broad range of skills as you’ll be expected to be able to deal with everything in the broadcast chain from the microphone to the transmitters. Part of a small team, you’ll be living and working alongside the military so we’re looking for someone who has a positive and flexible approach to life and to work. Based at our studios at Gibraltar, you’ll be expected to work collaboratively with the BFBS team and our military customer to ensure that BFBS’s Radio and TV services remain available at all times.

We want someone who will ensure the availability of all services 24/7 via a programme of effective incident response, proactive routine maintenance tasks and a collaborative approach to Continual Service Improvement. Your duties will include the first line support of all fixed and mobile infrastructure, plant and technical equipment at transmitter sites and studio complexes. The primary role of this position, however, is to liaise with radio programme staff regarding their support needs and maintain a support, maintenance and technical training programme for studios, Playout, CTA and other systems required to support radio’s function. You will be the primary point of contact for maintaining relationships with all our customer stakeholders.

You’ll be a highly organised person, methodical in performing your duties, with an ability to effectively manage your time, potentially with multiple conflicting requirements. You’ll take pride in your attention to detail and will self-develop a highly detailed level of understanding for the systems you are supporting. You’ll also need to be someone with good social skills and with a robustly positive outlook, who’s approach to life contributes positively their own wellbeing.

We don’t expect anybody to have experience of everything that we ask our technology staff to support, but the ideal candidate would have knowledge and experience of some of the following areas;

 

• Technical support in a live studio enviro

• Support of media Play-Out systems, both user and engineering

• IT desktop support

• Managing or assisting outside broadcasts & live events

• Supporting of studio/office-based infrastructure projects

• Maintenance & updating of technical documentation

• Satellite dish erection and location

• Technical site cleaning

• The adoption of a Continuous Service Improvement approach to your work

• Following established operational processes in support of a Service Delivery ethos

• Support of FM transmission systems and transmission site infrastructure

• Satellite dish maintenance, erection and location

• Health & Safety for sites and staff, including Portable Appliance Testing (PAT)  

We’d also like you to have

• A Good level of written & spoken English

• A Full Driving Licence

• Relevant Technology training, qualification or experience

Audio/Visual Media training, qualification or experience

• IT training, qualification or experience
